2024 has been a thrilling year for Formula 1 fans, with many more drivers winning races compared to last year.
Max Verstappen is still leading the pack, but other drivers are catching up.
Red Bull Racing
Max Verstappen has bagged seven wins so far. Red Bull isn’t as dominant as it was in 2023, but Max’s skill keeps him ahead. He had some tough races like Emilia-Romagna but started strong with a win in Bahrain. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez hasn’t won any race yet.
Ferrari
Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc each have one victory. In Melbourne, when Max’s car broke down, Carlos took advantage and won. He did something similar last year in Singapore too. Ferrari got a one-two finish thanks to him.
Charles Leclerc finally broke his bad luck at his home race by winning the Monaco Grand Prix. Starting from pole position on Saturday, he managed to keep Oscar Piastri behind and secured the win.
Mercedes
George Russell and Lewis Hamilton have brought Mercedes back into the winner’s circle with three wins between them. George grabbed his first win of the season in Austria after Lando Norris and Max collided, giving him an opening.
A week later at Silverstone, Lewis Hamilton clinched his first victory since 2021 by making smart tire choices in changing weather conditions and finishing just ahead of Max Verstappen at his home GP.
Mercedes also won in Belgium before the summer break; however, George was disqualified for being underweight, handing the win to Lewis Hamilton instead .
Fans might think this year’s competition is much more exciting!
McLaren
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have each claimed one victory for McLaren this season. Lando won at Miami after taking advantage of a Safety Car phase but came close again at Emilia-Romagna and Spielberg without success.
Oscar Piastri got his first-ever F1 win in Hungary under controversial circumstances when McLaren decided to let him pass Norris after an undercut strategy went wrong initially.
