Meet Geri Halliwell

Born Geraldine Estelle Halliwell on 6 August 1972, Geri hails from Watford, Hertfordshire. Her parents, Ana Maria and Laurence Francis, are of Spanish and Scandinavian descent, respectively.

Geri’s journey to fame began right after school. She danced in Majorca, hosted the Turkish version of Let’s Make a Deal, and even modeled. At 19, she graced page three of The Sun and later appeared in Playboy and Penthouse in 1998.

The Spice Girls Era

1994 marked a turning point for Geri. She formed a girl band with Melanie C, Mel B, and Victoria Beckham. They won a competition by The Stage magazine to start a girl band, and along with Emma Bunton, they became the group Touch.

In 1995, they parted ways with Heart Management and signed with Virgin Records. The group was renamed Spice Girls, and their debut album Spice became a global hit. However, Geri left the group in 1998 due to depression and disagreements.

Fast forward to 2007, the Spice Girls announced a reunion tour and released a compilation album, Greatest Hits. They also released a documentary, Spice Girls: Giving You Everything.
