Daniel Ricciardo’s season? Well, it was a weird one. He began as a bystander, only to be ushered into the AlphaTauri cockpit. Then, a hand injury at Zandvoort put him on the bench again. But, in the end, he wrapped up the season with the Italian squad. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster!

Ricciardo went through a lot. His standout memory from the 2023 season? “Some metal in my hand,” he chuckles, in his typical Aussie style. “Looking back, it’s been a year of surprises. I didn’t expect to race at all, let alone everything else that happened. But, I’m glad it did.”

Feeling the Hunger

Post a bitter exit from McLaren, Ricciardo rediscovered his love for racing. Thanks to a backup role at Red Bull Racing and a racing seat at AlphaTauri. “I’m in a good place, emotionally. I’m thrilled to be racing again. I’m just really hungry and motivated,” he shares.

“And, um, this might be the first off-season I’m not looking forward to. I want to keep racing, keep the momentum going. But, the idea of a short break and prepping for next year? That’s exciting too,” Ricciardo admits. He’s gearing up for a crucial season. Rumor has it, Red Bull’s got him on their radar to replace Sergio Perez as Max Verstappen’s partner in ’25. But, Ricciardo’s got to earn his stripes next year to secure that spot.
