ABT Lola has teamed up with Lucas di Grassi for their eleventh Formula E season. The former F1 driver is set to lead Lola’s comeback in top-tier motorsport after a long break.
Last year, Di Grassi drove for ABT Cupra, the precursor to the new ABT Lola team. “A driver with as much experience, skill and dedication as Lucas is a huge boost for a new manufacturer entering the series. These attributes, combined with his existing relationship with ABT, make Lucas the ideal person to have behind the wheel for our return to motorsport,” said Mark Preston. “His knowledge and feedback during testing have already proved invaluable and we look forward to taking to the track together in season 11.”
Iconic Name in Motorsport
Lola is a legendary name in racing history. Known especially for making chassis, they’ve been part of Formula 1, IndyCar, and endurance racing over many years. Famous drivers like Graham Hill, Alan Jones, Michele Alboreto, and Aguri Suzuki have all driven Lola cars.
In 1997, they tried their hand at being an independent team in Formula 1 but it didn’t go well. By 2012, Lola had gone bankrupt .
