‣ Red Bull Racing has confirmed that Sergio Perez will be Max Verstappen’s teammate for 2024.
‣ Max Verstappen will continue to race for the Austrian team beyond 2024 as his contract is still valid.
‣ Team boss Christian Horner has stated that the second seat for 2025 is still open, and the team is looking for the most competitive pairing.
‣ Daniel Ricciardo, who left Red Bull Racing after 2018, is also a potential candidate for the second seat in 2025.

Red Bull Racing has its sights set on 2024. Sergio Perez is slated to team up with Max Verstappen once more. But what about the year after that? Christian Horner, the team boss, suggests that “everything is still open”.

Max Verstappen’s place on the Austrian team is secure. His contract is still in effect. However, the second seat remains up for grabs.

Sky Sports asked Horner if the fight for the spot next to Verstappen would be a showdown between Perez and Ricciardo. Horner’s response? “Well as a team you want to field the most competitive pairing you can have. You want the right dynamic in the team,” he said. He then added, “Max and Checo have been a tremendously successful pairing. Checo in his three years with us has finished fourth, third and second – so he’s on a good trajectory!”

Daniel Ricciardo is also in the mix. He left Red Bull Racing after 2018 but has since returned after stints with Renault and McLaren. He replaced Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri, but he’s not hiding his ambition to team up with Verstappen again.

“Daniel is well known to us, it’s great to have him back in the Red Bull fold.“Of course, everything is open for 2025 onwards.“So for us to have options both internally and also externally is no bad place to be,” Horner commented. If Ricciardo wants to be seriously considered, he’ll have to outperform Yuki Tsunoda next year. This is something he’s only managed to do in Mexico since his return.

Ricciardo confirmed the rumours: ‘I was almost as fast as Verstappen’.
