Jolyon Palmer, a former Formula 1 driver, has praised Max Verstappen as the best driver of 2023 and Red Bull Racing as the best team, while also highlighting Yuki Tsunoda‘s impressive development and potential for a future spot at Red Bull Racing.
‣ Max Verstappen was considered the best driver of 2023 and Red Bull Racing was the best team according to Jolyon Palmer.
‣ Yuki Tsunoda, driver of AlphaTauri, was praised for his development and performance in the past F1 season.
‣ Tsunoda was noted for his pace and impressive consistency, stepping up as a team leader.
‣ Palmer suggests that Tsunoda could be considered for a spot at Red Bull Racing after Sergio Perez‘s contract expires.
Max Verstappen? Top driver of 2023, no doubt. And Red Bull Racing? Best team, hands down. That’s what Jolyon Palmer thinks, at least. He spilled his thoughts on Formula 1’s official site, talking about the past season’s standouts. Yuki Tsunoda, AlphaTauri’s driver, got a nod too.
The season kicked off with Tsunoda and Nyck de Vries, a seasoned driver, on the same team. But the Dutchman? No match for Tsunoda. Not really. Daniel Ricciardo, who replaced De Vries, did manage to snag the best result for the Italian team in Mexico. Seventh place, not bad. But Tsunoda? Still the superior one, generally speaking.
Palmer, a former F1 racer himself, thinks Tsunoda was the most improved last season. “Yuki stepped up wonderfully though and, for the first time this year looked like a team leader, displaying both pace and impressive consistency,” he praised. Tsunoda, by the way, will be back with AlphaTauri next season, albeit under a new name.
Tsunoda for Red Bull Racing? Maybe. Sergio Perez’s contract with Red Bull Racing ends after the next season. Rumor has it, the Austrians are thinking about bringing Ricciardo back to team up with Verstappen in 2025. Palmer thinks Tsunoda could be in the running too. “There’s much gossip about Daniel’s links with Red Bull for 2025, might Tsunoda have something to add to the conversation with another stellar season?” he mused.
