Verstappen’s Criticism of Red Bull & Lambiase: Horner’s Response

It was a tough day for Red Bull Racing at the Hungaroring.

Neither driver managed to get on the podium, even with new updates to their car. Team boss Christian Horner gets why Max Verstappen was so upset on the radio.

Horner Understands Verstappen’s Frustration

After the race, Horner was asked if Max’s radio messages to his engineer Gianpiero Lambiase were too harsh. “Max was frustrated, which is understandable. He has a direct line of communication with his engineer. This is something they discuss together,” Horner said.

Max didn’t hold back and used some strong language. When asked if he would talk to Max about it, Horner replied, “I don’t think that’s something for the media. Everyone sees that we need to perform better. Everyone is working hard on that. We will have all discussions behind closed doors.”

Fans might think this shows how passionate Max is about winning.

Clearing Up Misunderstandings

At one point, things got heated when Lambiase called it “childish” to complain about a collision with Lewis Hamilton over the radio. Horner wanted to clear up any confusion, saying that comment wasn’t aimed at Max.

“I don’t think GP was talking about Max at that moment,” Horner explained. “He was referring to others on the radio complaining about penalties.”

“Others are clearly going for penalties because stewards also listen to the radio,” he added. “They [Verstappen and Lambiase] have been together for eight years. There are things we could have done better in the race today, but that’s something we will talk about as a team.”

What do you think? Should they handle this differently?
