Silverstone F3 Race Postponed After Safety Car Nearly Skids Off Track

A big disappointment hit the fans at Silverstone early on Saturday.

The Formula 3 sprint race was delayed at the last minute due to heavy rain, making it too dangerous to race.

Chaos on a Rainy Morning

Originally set for 9:20 am, the F3 sprint race featuring Arvid Lindblad didn’t start as planned. The cars stayed in the pit lane because there were too many puddles on the track. Just before this, Gabriele Mini had already slid off into the gravel during his lap from the paddock.

Bernd Mayländer, driving the safety car, went out to check conditions and nearly lost control himself. After that scare, and several postponements, officials finally called off the race around 9:45 am. No one knows if they’ll try again later today.

Fans might wonder if more sessions will get delayed due to these wet conditions. Formula 1’s third practice is supposed to start at 11:30 am, but it looks like the track won’t dry up by then .

Sprint Race Rescheduled

Because of this morning’s delay, FIA has rescheduled the F3 sprint race for 6:00 pm local time at Silverstone.

What do you think about all these delays?
