Verstappen Optimistic After Securing Fifth Place: ‘Exactly What We Hoped For’

Max Verstappen felt pretty good after the second practice session in Spain. After tough times in Canada and Monaco, he was glad the first day in Barcelona went smoothly.

“We tried different setups in FP1 and FP2 to fine-tune things. The day was more normal without any issues, which is what we wanted. Now it’s about making small adjustments to the car,” Verstappen told F1TV.

Red Bull Racing introduced some updates for the Spanish race weekend. When asked about them, Verstappen said they were minor changes. “They were very tiny. It’s nothing too big. But so far everything is feeling normal.”

Verstappen ended up fifth in the second practice session, behind Hamilton, Sainz, Norris, and Gasly. He was over two tenths slower than Hamilton’s fastest time but didn’t seem too concerned on Friday.

Fans might think this is a good sign for the upcoming race weekend.

In racing, sometimes even small tweaks can make a big difference!

What do you think? Will these minor updates help Verstappen win?
